Our Story

I grew up around women who knew how to choose a piece of jewelry like it meant something. When they passed those pieces to me, they weren’t just giving me jewelry. They were giving me a part of who they were.

At Idle Hands, I make jewelry that does the same. Jewelry you wear every day, forget to take off, and grow older with. The kind someone else might wear after you.

The best pieces aren’t just worn, they’re lived in.

About Zoe

I’ve been making jewelry since I was nine, selling beaded earrings at craft fairs to fund my next batch of supplies. Working at a bakery in Wyoming years later, I met Ray, a silversmith who gave me the knowledge and half the tools I’d need to set up my own studio.

Over time, the tools got bigger, the work got finer, and my love to create only grew. Turning an idea into something tangible, held in your hand, is my greatest joy.

When I’m not smithing, you can find me quilting, baking, learning pottery, or admiring the cows in my backyard.

Our Studio

In my Asheville studio, each piece is made start to finish by hand. Some begin with a sketch, some with a memory, others with gold or stones you already own. Whether it begins as raw gold or an heirloom you’ve held onto for years, it leaves my bench ready to be worn every day.

Every piece is made to carry history, even if that history starts the moment you put it on. If you’re looking for something that already feels like yours, I’d love to make it with you.
